Centre inaugurates link building at Bhubaneswar Airport

The Union Government inaugurated the link building connecting terminal 1 (T1) and T2 at Bhubaneswar Airport on February 6, 2024. The capacity is likely to increase to 4.6 million passengers per annum (mppa). The link building, two rotundas and aerobridges in T1 have been developed at an investment of Rs 872.10 million. Bhubaneswar airport upgradation project involves upgradation of Biju Patnaik International Airport at Bhubaneswar in Odisha with an investment of Rs 2.89 billion. It includes the construction of a parallel taxiway, expansion of the runway from the existing length of 9,000 feet to 10,000 feet and the construction of a new air traffic control (ATC) tower along with improvement in the radars of the air navigation system. It also includes the renovation of the old terminals with new tools. The project will increase the airport’s capacity to 5 mppa.
