Union Government inaugurates three railway projects in Uttar Pradesh

The Union Government inaugurated three railway projects in Uttar Pradesh on January 25, 2024. The first is the 173-km long New Khurja-New Rewari rail section of the dedicated freight corridor project (western corridor). The project involves development of 1,504 km long heavy haul freight corridor of double line electric (2 X 25 kV) tracks in Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh with an investment of Rs 511.01 billion. It is being developed in three phases-Vadodara-Rewari (Phase I), Vadodara-Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) (Phase II) and Rewari-Dadri (Phase III). The second is the Chipiyana Buzurg-Dadri fourth line project which involves construction of a fourth line along the existing 12 km long Chipiyana Buzurg-Dadri railway line in Uttar Pradesh. It was sanctioned in the railway budget 2018-19. The third is the Mathura-Palwal fourth line project which involves laying of a fourth line along the existing 80 km long rail line between Mathura and Palwal in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, respectively. The project was sanctioned under railway budget 2015-16.
