India selected as pioneer lead country for the IMO Green Voyage 2050 project

With the objective of assisting developing countries in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships, India has been selected as the pioneer lead country for the International Maritime Organization Green Voy­age 2050 project. The selected projects include Ambuja Cements Limited for the fitment of a waste heat recovery system on a bulk carrier; the Directora­te of Inland Water Transport [IWT] Assam/Assam IWT Deve­lop­ment Society and Kochi Water Metro Limited for the greening of inland ferries; the Mumbai Port Authority for the greening of passenger wooden ferries; and Ocean Sparkle Limited for electric hybrid tugs.
