Governments of India and Bangladesh agree to include Rupnarayan river in Indo-Bangladesh protocol route

The governments of India and Bangladesh have agreed to consider the inclusion of the Rupnarayan river (National Waterway [NW]-86) from Geonkhali to Kolaghat in the Indo-Bangladesh protocol route. The two governments have also agreed to declare Kolaghat in West Bengal and Chilmari in Bangladesh as the new ports of call. Further, both the governments have agreed to declare Badarpur on the Barak river (NW-16) as an extended port of call for Karimganj (Assam, India) and Ghorasal (Bangladesh) on a reciprocal basis.
