The central government has inaugurated the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). The EPE commences near Kundli on National Highway (NH)-1, traverses to cross the Yamuna river, crosses State Highway-57 at Mawikalan, NH-58 near Duhai, NH-24 near Dasna, NH-91 near Beel Akbarpur, Kasna-Sikandra road near Sirsa, the Yamuna river again at Faizupur Khadar village in Haryana, the Atali-Chainsa road near Maujpur village, and terminates at Palwal on NH-2 to join the Western Peripheral Expressway. It is a fully access-controlled, six-lane expressway with four major bridges, 46 minor bridges, three flyovers, seven interchanges, 221 underpasses, eight road overbridges (RoBs) and 114 culverts. A total of 1,700 hectares of land was acquired for the EPE at a cost of about Rs 59 billion.
