The centre has approved the establishment of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, which is expected to attract more than Rs 30 billion in investments and generate nearly 9,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY) has approved central financial assistance of Rs 2.11 billion for the project, which has an estimated total cost of Rs 4.32 billion.
The cluster will be developed by the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) across nearly 306 acres. It will offer ready-to-use factory spaces, reliable power and water supply, warehouses and other industrial infrastructure to enable companies to commence operations with minimal lead time.
Four anchor companies from the semiconductor, electric vehicle and smart electronics sectors have already expressed interest in establishing operations at the cluster, according to state government officials.
The state government also said it would focus on developing industry-oriented skills among local youth to help them benefit from employment opportunities created by the project.
