The Railway Board has granted in principle approval for communication based train control (CBTC) signaling system for Kalena Agrahara – Nagawara stretch under the Bengaluru Metro Project Phase II, IIA and IIB.
The Phase II project involves construction of four extensions and two new lines covering a length of 72.09 km (13.79 km underground and 58.3 km elevated), in Karnataka at an investment of Rs 406.14 billion.
Phase IIA (KR Puram-Silk Board corridor) involves development of a metro rail network from Krishna Raja Puram (KR Puram) to Silk Board in the city covering a distance of 19.75 km at an estimated cost of Rs 42.04 billion.
Phase IIB (Bengaluru Airport Corridor) involves development of a 38.44 km long metro rail network at an estimated cost of Rs 105.84 billion.
