India has launched E-Samudra, a comprehensive digital platform aimed at transforming maritime governance and improving services for seafarers, shipping companies, ports and other stakeholders. The platform brings multiple services under a single digital window, offering online payments, real-time tracking, digital certificates and end-to-end workflows.
With India’s seafarer workforce rising to over 323,000 in 2025, the reforms seek to reduce compliance burdens, improve transparency and strengthen safety, welfare and ease of doing business across the maritime sector.
