The Odisha government has signed a loan agreement worth Rs 4.4 billion with Germany’s KfW Development Bank to undertake various urban infrastructure projects in the state. The funds will be utilised for the execution of infrastructure projects such as energy-efficient street lighting, reclamation and development of waterbodies, solid waste management, sewerage systems, water supply and stormwater drainage across urban areas. The total capital requirement for such infrastructure projects, to be implemented through the Odisha Urban Infrastructure Development Fund, has been estimated at Rs 20 billion.
