Maruti Suzuki to develop 10 TPD biogas plant in Haryana

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced that it will develop a 10 tonnes per day (TPD) biogas plant at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. The biogas plant will be commissioned in the financial year 2026-27 and will mitigate around 9,490 tonnes of carbon emissions. Furthermore, the project will also serve around 20 per cent of the Kharkhoda facility’s total gas.

Additionally, the company has also expanded the capacity of its Manesar biogas plant from 0.2 TPD to 0.7 TPD. The upgraded plant is expected to generate around 360,000 standard cubic metres of biogas annually. The facility converts food waste, napier grass and paddy straw into biogas through anaerobic digestion technology. The company will invest Rs 1.5 billion in these two projects.

In August 2025, the prime minister of India inaugurated and flagged off Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara, the company’s first made-in-India battery electric vehicle (EV). The EVs manufactured in India will be exported to 100 countries.
