National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has finalised station zones in Mathura and Agra for the Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail Corridor Project.
It has identified land parcels near Itauli village in Mathura and Etmadpur village in Agra.
The project involves construction of an 865 km long high speed rail (HSR) corridor from Delhi to Varanasi via Noida, Jewar Airport, Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Prayagraj and Bhadohi in Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 2,300 billion. The corridor is expected to cut Delhi-Agra travel time to under one hour and Delhi-Varanasi travel to approximately 3.5 hours. The proposed Agra station will be connected to the Inner Ring Road and located near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway entry point. The project is being developed by NHSRCL and the detailed project report is currently in progress.
