The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has modified the alignment of the circular route near Kasar Amboli under the Pune Outer Ring Road project (greenfield alignment). The new route is likely to reduce the project cost by around Rs 8 billion. The formal proposal has been sent to the state government for its approval.
The revised alignment in Kasar Amboli located in the western stretch of the ring road eliminates the need for demolishing parts of a residential project comprising over 300 housing units.
The Pune ring road project involves the construction of a 138 km long ring road in Maharashtra, and an access-controlled ring road (greenfield alignment), starting from Urse on Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway and connecting at Shivare on Pune-Satara National Highway (NH)-4, spanning around 74.08 km, known as the Eastern ring road (PRR-EAST) and a 65.45 km as the Western ring road (PRRWEST) in Pune District. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 158.57 billion.
