In a major step to support the development of integrated transport infrastructure under the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the construction of the six-lane Zirakpur Bypass in Punjab and Haryana on the hybrid annuity mode (HAM). The route will cover 19.20 km from the junction with NH-7 (Zirakpur-Patiala) to the junction with NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo). The estimated total project cost is Rs 18.78 billion.
The Zirakpur Bypass avoids the heavily populated and congested areas of Zirakpur in Punjab and Panchkula in Haryana by beginning at the intersection of NH-7 (Chandigarh-Bathinda) in Zirakpur, and ending at the intersection of NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo) in Panchkula, Haryana.
With direct access to Himachal Pradesh and traffic diversion from Patiala, Delhi, and Mohali Aerocity, the project’s main goal is to reduce congestion in Zirakpur, Panchkula, and the neighbouring areas. In the crowded metropolitan area of NH-7, NH-5, and NH-152, this project proposal seeks to shorten travel times and guarantee hassle-free traffic flow.
