NHAI launches safety initiative worth Rs 5.31 billion in Kota division

With a total budget allocation of over Rs 5.31 billion, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is getting ready to start a significant highway safety enhancement project along national roads that travel through the Kota division. The comprehensive project seeks to remove black spots and enhance road safety through improvement and repair work on three important national highways, NH-52, NH-27, and NH-148D.

For the majority of these projects, tenders have already been released, and approval has been given for the remaining projects.

With renovations of Rs 1.71 billion planned for the 104 km section between Kota and Bhawargarh, NH-27 would see the most significant development. As part of the regular maintenance cycle, which is carried out every four years, this involves total resurfacing with new asphalt. Work orders have been issued, and the money received from toll collection is being used to pay for them. Additionally, all of the flyovers on this route between Kota and Bhawargarh will have their electrical work completed. Proper lighting will also be installed.

Important safety improvements will be made on NH-27, such as the replacement of broken barriers and the installation of metal beam crash barriers at hazardous curves.

NHAI will carry out Rs 1.99 billion worth of rehabilitation work on NH-148D, which spans over 240 km from Gulabpura in Bhilwara through Hindoli and Nainwa in Bundi district to Uniara in Tonk district. To provide commuters with a seamless riding experience, the whole 240 km road will be resurfaced.

A new service road will also be built along the NH-27 bypass segment, which spans around 30 km from Chittorgarh Road just before the hanging bridge to Baran Road, which ends close to Jhalipura. Currently, there is no service road between Jhalawar Road and Baran Road. Further, in order to reduce accidents and enhance traffic control, NHAI is building a service road along this section for Rs 0.60 billion.
