Capacity has been revised by 6.15 km under the Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali (Tricity) metro project making the new capacity as 85.65 km. An extension of about 3.5 km has been made from Zirakpur to Panchkula, Sector 20 and an extension of about 2.5 km has been made from Sukhna lake to sector 43 Inter-state Bus Terminal (ISBT). Besides, the depots under this project will be developed at Ghaggar (Panchkula), Paroul (Mohali) and Sector 39 Grain market (Chandigarh). Also, about 3,376 trees are likely to be axed for the project.
Phase I will involve three corridors: corridor I (30.75 km) spans from Sultanpur, New Chandigarh to sector 28, Panchkula; corridor II (34.40 km) spans from Sukhna Lake to ISBT Zirakpur via ISBT Mohali; and corridor II (13.55 km) spans from Grain Market Chowk to Transport Light Chowk, sector 26, urban transit region. Phase II will have two corridors: Airport Chowk to Manakpur Kallar (5 km) and ISBT Zirakpur to Pinjore (20 km).
