Construction of India’s longest six-lane elevated highway progressing rapidly in Kerala 

The construction of the Alappuzha Aroor–Thuravoor Elevated Expressway, part of NH-66 is advancing swiftly which is poised to become one of the country’s largest highways. With 374 pillars being erected along the 12.75 km route from Aroor to Thuravoor, over 30 per cent of these pillars are already under construction. Currently, 115 pillars are ready for concrete girders, while 53 pillars are ready for concrete pouring. Contractors aim to complete a substantial portion of the pillars before the onset of the monsoon in June 2024. The 24 m wide Aroor–Thuravoor Elevated Highway requires minimal land acquisition, with only about half an acre secured for the project. Additionally, a ramp connecting to the Venduruthy Bridge is under construction. The project’s estimated cost is Rs 0.16 billion.
