Centre inaugurates three rail sections in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu

The Union Government inaugurated three rail sections in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu on February 28, 2024. The first is the Wardha-Kalamb section of the Wardha-Nanded new line (via Yavatmal-Pusad) project. The project involves development of a 284 km long new rail line between Wardha and Nanded in Maharashtra with an investment of Rs 34.45 billion. The second is the New Ashti-Amalner section of the Ahmednagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath railway line project. The project involves construction of a 261 km long rail line between Ahmednagar and Parli Vaijnath linking with Beed in Maharashtra at an estimated cost of Rs 48.05 billion. It will include 17 stations and 400 bridges. The third is the Vanchi Maniyachchi-Nagercoil section of the Madurai-Tirunelveli-Nagercoil-Kanyakumari line doubling-cum-electrification project developed at a cost of Rs 14.77 billion. The project involves doubling and electrification of the 256 km long Madurai-Tirunelveli-Nagercoil-Kanyakumari rail line in Tamil Nadu.
