Notably, the union government has laid the foundation stone for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s gas network in the Godda- Dumka geographical area (GA) in Jharkhand, catering to the supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG). The gas network spread across 14,507 square km entailing an investment of Rs 17.5 billion, is poised to connect over 1.4 million households with gas supply in areas like Godda, Dumka, Poriyahat, Shikaripara, Jarmundi, Mahagama, Pathargama, Jamtara, Mihijam, Pakur, Litipara, and Sahibganj. The network comprises 370 km of steel pipelines and extensive coverage of medium-density polyethylene (MDPE). Additionally, there are plans to set up CNG stations, contributing to the promotion of sustainable transportation. In a separate development, the union government has inaugurated Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s PNG under Deoghar city gas distribution (CGD) project. The PNG project spans three districts across 6,264 square km, aiming to extend its reach to over 0.6 million households. This initiative, entailing an investment of Rs 3.03 billion, is likely to provide PNG connectivity to around 30,000 families by 2027 facilitated by the installation of 350 km MDPE pipeline network, positioning Deoghar as a trailblazer in the region for embracing PNG technology.
