The integrated terminal building at the Surat International Airport was inaugurated on December 17, 2023. The airport also received approval to be declared as an international airport. The airport aims to facilitate the seamless export and import of the diamond and textile industries. During peak hours, the terminal building can cater to 1,200 domestic and 600 international passengers. Provisions reportedly exist to increase this capacity to 3,000 passengers and an annual capacity increasing to 5.5 million passengers. Further, the airport is equipped with sustainability features including a solar power plant, rainwater harvesting, etc.
