The foundation stone for the Datia Airport, Madhya Pradesh was laid on August 21, 2023. The airport is expected to be completed by February 2024. It entails an investment of around Rs 500 million. Developments include renovating the existing 1,810-meter runway, construction of an apron which can house two 19-seater aircraft and a terminal building of 750 sq m that can accommodate 100 passengers at peak hours and an air traffic control (ATC) tower. The airport aims to enhance regional connectivity as part of the Regional Connectivity Scheme Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (RCS UDAN). After development, flights connecting Khajuraho and Bhopal, which were already awarded under RCS UDAN, will be operationalised. The state has a current weekly aircraft movement of 956, which is around a 72.5 per cent jump in comparison to 554 in 2021, and an 89 per cent jump in comparison to 506 in 2014.
