The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has laid the foundation stone for and inaugurated national highway and port connectivity projects worth Rs 67 billion in Andhra Pradesh. The national highway projects for which the foundation stone was laid include capacity augmentation of the existing four-lane, 13.47 km Icchapuram-Narasannapet stretch of National Highway (NH)-16 at a cost of Rs 4.39 billion, six-laning of the 54.2 km Narasannapet-Ranasthalam stretch of NH-16 at a cost of Rs 13.5 billion, six-laning of the Ranasthalam-Anandapuram stretch of NH-16 at a cost of Rs 11.87 and six-laning of the Anandapuram-Pendurthi-Anakapalli section of NH-16 at a cost of Rs 20.13 billion. The port connectivity projects for which the foundation stone was laid include the four-lane, 12.7 km road stretch from NH-16 to Visakhapatnam port to be constructed at a cost of Rs 5.49 billion under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and the 0.85 km grade separator from H7 area to the port connectivity road bypassing the Convent Junction in Visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 0.39 billion. Meanwhile, the MoRTH has also inaugurated a four-lane, 4.15 km balance connectivity road from Visakhapatnam port to NH-16 which has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1 billion. In addition to these projects, the MoRTH inaugurated port connectivity projects worth Rs 10.62 billion and laid the foundation stone for those worth Rs 6.79 billion.
