Kerala government increases incentives for vessel operators using coastal shipping

The Kerala government has increased the incentives for vessel operators using coastal shipping as a mode of transportation. The operational incentive will be 50 per cent of the road transportation cost per loaded 20 foot container. Further, an enhanced operational incentive of 30 per cent above the existing rates will be applicable to 40 foot containers. The improved coastal shipping rates will be applicable to the Kollam, Beypore and Azhikkal ports at rates prevalent at Cochin port and the International Container Transshipment Terminal, Kochi (Vallarpadam terminal). Meanwhile, the reference rates will be decided by the respective port authorities.
