The Karnataka government and the LNG Alliance Company, in association with the New Mangalore Port Trust, have signed an MoU for setting up a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Mangaluru, Karnataka. The project is expected to entail an investment of Rs 22.5 billion and is likely to be completed in the next two years. The project, once completed, will supply LNG in a 300 km radius around Mangaluru. The project will be part of the central government’s plan to expand the alternative fuel market to achieve net zero carbon by 2070.
