CCEA approves four rail projects across various states 

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved four railway projects worth about Rs 94.5 billion covering 410 km of Indian Railways (IR) network to generate additional freight traffic of 76 Million Tonnes Per Annum (mtpa) under PM-Gati Shakti National Master Plan on August 19, 2026. These are:

  • Kharagpur-Bhadrak (Ranital) Fourth Rail Line Project involves construction of a 173 km long fourth railway line from Kharagpur to Bhadrak (Ranital) in the states of West Bengal and Odisha at an estimated cost of Rs 33.52 billion.
  • Bhadrak-Haridaspur Fourth Rail Line Project involves construction of a 75 km long fourth railway line from Bhadrak to Haridaspur in Odisha at an estimated cost of Rs 15.83 billion.
  • Gummidipundi-Gudur Third and Fourth Railway Line (90 km) in the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh is planned as an extension of the already sanctioned Athipattu-Gummidipundi Third and Fourth Rail Line project, at an estimated cost of Rs 22.29 billion.
  • Cuttack-Paradeep (Badabandha) Third and Fourth Rail Line Project involves construction of a 72 km long third and fourth railway line from Cuttack to Paradeep (Badabandha) in the state of Odisha at an estimated cost of Rs 22.86 billion.
