IR maintains high freight loading and revenues

Indian Railways (IR) has maintained a high momentum in terms of freight earnings and freight loading in the month of April 2021. IR’s freight loading for the month of April 2021 stood at 111.47 mt, which includes 51.87 mt coal, 14.83 mt iron ore, 3.47 mt food grains, 2.53 mt fertilisers, 3.58 mt mineral oil, 7.1 mt cement (excluding clinker) 4.88 mt clinker, and 23.21 mt other material. IR recorded an increase of over 10  per cent in freight loading over 2019-20. Meanwhile, the freight earnings in April 2021 stood at Rs 111.64 billion.
