The government of Uttar Pradesh is planning to establish India’s largest integrated robotics and advanced manufacturing hub in Noida as part of a broader strategy to expand the state’s presence in emerging technologies.
The proposed facility, named PRAGATI, will be developed across nearly 75 acres and is expected to bring together capabilities including robotics testing, rapid prototyping, artificial intelligence (AI) computing infrastructure, motion capture labs and startup incubation under one roof.
The project is expected to generate over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs and contribute more than Rs 20 billion in gross value addition over the next five years. The initiative was reviewed at a meeting chaired by the chief minister of the state, who directed officials to prepare a comprehensive roadmap to position the state as a national leader in advanced technologies.
In addition to the Noida hub, the state plans to establish two deep-tech innovation centres under the U-Hub initiative in Noida and Lucknow, with a budget allocation of Rs 1 billion for 2026-27. The centres are designed to connect startups, researchers, investors and industry stakeholders while accelerating the commercialisation of emerging technologies.
The Noida centre will focus on quantum computing, semiconductor design, robotics and defence technologies, while the Lucknow hub will specialise in applied AI, healthcare technologies and agri-biotechnology. Both hubs have been conceptualised by an expert committee led by the director of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.
