India has launched its first domestically manufactured export-import (EXIM) shipping container for global shipping major A.P. Moller–Maersk. Unveiled by the Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways at the Maersk-CONCOR Inland Container Depot in Dadri, Uttar Pradesh, the container meets international ISO and Container Safety Convention (CSC) standards for global use.
Maersk has also placed an order for 1,000 additional India-made containers with DCM Shriram Group. The initiative aligns with the Rs 100 billion Container Manufacturing Promotion Scheme, which aims to boost annual container production tenfold, reduce import dependence, strengthen supply chains, generate employment, and position India as a global hub for maritime manufacturing.
