South Western Railway (SWR) has achieved freight loading of 38.36 million tonnes (mt) during the financial year (FY) 2025-26 (till December 2025), representing an increase of 18.5 per cent over corresponding period of the last year. This includes loading of 15.40 mt of iron ore, 8 mt of steel, 7.44 mt of coal, 1.9 mt of raw material for steel plant (RMSP), 1 mt of fertilisers, and 0.72 mt of containers loading. Further, SWR generated gross revenue of Rs 69.22 billion which includes passenger revenue of Rs 25.43 billion, freight revenue of Rs 39.69 billion and sundry revenue of Rs 1.58 billion during this period.
In December 2025, the zone registered 5.073 mt of freight loading, which is 25.4 per cent higher over the same month last year. Besides, it recorded gross revenue of Rs 8.39 billion which includes freight revenue of Rs 5.03 billion, and passenger revenue of Rs 2.96 billion by transporting 14.56 million passengers during the month.
