Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, JSW Infrastructure sign a concession agreement to upgrade container handling at Kolkata

On September 15, 2025, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, has signed a 30‑year concession agreement with JSW Infrastructure Limited for a Rs 7.4 billion project at the Netaji Subhas Dock. As per the agreement, berth 8 will be reconstructed and rail‑mounted quay cranes will be installed at berths 7 and 8. Besides, a 25 acres backup area will also be developed to support operations.

Once complete, the enhanced facility is expected to handle about 0.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per year, significantly boosting the port’s container cargo capacity and efficiency.
