Afcons Infrastructure Limited has commenced casting the first box segment for package BH-05 under the Bhopal Metro Rail Phase I Project. Afcons plans to cast a total of 3,564 segments at their casting yard located in Anna Nagar. Each segment cast will be 8.5 metres wide and 2.1 metres tall.
Package BH-05 involves part design and construction of elevated viaduct for 13 elevated metro rail stations viz. Bhadbhada Chauraha, Depot Chauraha, Jawahar Chowk, Roshanpura Chauraha, Kushabhau Thakre Hall, Parade Ground, Prabhat Chauraha, Govindpura, Govindpura Industrial Area, JK Road, Indrapuri, Piplani and Ratnagiri Tiraha (excluding an elevated passenger interchange metro rail station), between chainage (Ch) 50 km and 62.92 km, and access to depot between Ch 00.155 km and 1.1 km under Blue Line. Afcons Infrastructure Limited was awarded the package in December 2024.
The Bhopal Metro Project involves development of a metro rail transit system in Madhya Pradesh comprising two corridors of total length of 27.87 km at an estimated cost of Rs 69.4 billion.
