The construction work on Perur Desalination Plant in Tamil Nadu has achieved around 42 per cent completion and is likely to be completed by March 2027. The project involves construction of 400 million litres per day (mld) seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Perur, Chennai. The key components including intake structure for drawing seawater, lamella clarifier for sedimentation and reverse osmosis permeate tank for storing purified water are under progress. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 60.78 billion. It is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency.
