Cochin Port Authority (CoPA) and Oil India Limited (OIL) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a dedicated shore‑base facility at Kochi supporting offshore oil exploration in the Kerala–Konkan Basin. The partnership will result in a purpose-built support base featuring a warehouse, dry bulk handling plant, and an exclusive jetty to facilitate round-the-clock operations. The agreement is valid initially for a period of 12 months starting June 2025.
Serving as a logistics hub, the base will offer berthing, refueling, dry bulk transfer, potable water, and shore power facilities for OIL’s exploration vessels. With environmental safeguards including eco-friendly and noise-controlled bulk handling systems, the agreement prioritises compliance with port and state regulations.
