AAI has announced the signing of a technical assistance agreement with Boeing for the development of a comprehensive roadmap for the modernisation of air traffic services in the country. The air traffic services comprise communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) and air traffic management (ATM) facilities. The 10-year modernisation roadmap will be developed with a grant from the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). It will be used as a guideline for modernising the Indian National Airspace System (NAS) based on global and local best practices to optimally utilise airspace capacity. As per the agreement, Boeing will analyse current technologies and processes to identify the scope of efficiency improvements. As part of the project, Boeing will also work closely with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, domestic airlines and airports operators and other airspace stakeholders such as the US-India Aviation Cooperation Programme.
