The six-lane extradosed bridge over the Brahmaputra River, connecting Bharalumukh in Guwahati to Majgaon in North Guwahati, is expected to be completed within six months. While construction agencies aim to finish by July 31, 2024, an additional timeline has been granted, with the bridge’s inauguration planned between September and October 2025.
This flyover will significantly reduce travel time between the two banks by over 75 per cent, enhancing connectivity and easing traffic congestion. Toll charges will apply exclusively to lorries and night super buses entering the city via the bridge, discouraging heavy vehicle traffic and mitigating risks of accidents within urban areas. However, city buses and private vehicles will be exempted from tolls.
