Centre approves Rs 282.29 billion for Arunachal Frontier Highway near LAC

The centre has sanctioned Rs 282.29 billion for constructing the 1,637-km Arunachal Frontier Highway, connecting 12 districts along the line of actual control (LAC) bordering China. The highway will be built within 20 km of the LAC and international borders, running along the India-Tibet-China-Myanmar region. Starting from Bomdila, the route will pass through Nafra, Huri, and Monigong, ending in Vijaynagar near the India-Myanmar border. It will also connect 1,683 villages in the state.

The project, strategically positioned parallel to the McMahon Line, is part of India’s effort to counter regional aggression while improving connectivity in remote border areas. Scheduled for completion by 2027, the highway is expected to significantly enhance border security and facilitate regional development.
