Tunnel boring machine (TBM) S-639B Vidyarthi, has achieved its second breakthrough at the Transport Nagar station of line 1 under package KNPCC-06 of Kanpur metro phase 1 project.
TBM S-639B started its journey in December 2023 as the fourth TBM deployed for the construction of downline underground tunnels on Line 1 spanning 23.78 Km from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur to Naubasta. Afcons-Sam India Consortium awarded package KNPCC-06 spanning 4.65 km at Rs 10.88 billion with a 36-month deadline.
The scope of work under this package includes the construction of underground tunnels at three stations from Nayaganj station to Transport Nagar Ramp for line 1 of the Kanpur metro.
