Indian Railway (IR) has received a total of 2,000 forged wheels from Switzerland’s KLW Wheelco SA (KLW). In tune with this, another 3,500 forged wheels are in transit from Ukraine. The wheels, manufactured in Ukraine’s Dnipro by Interpipe Holdings PLC, will further be used in bogie open wagons fitted with air brakes (BOXN wagons) for transporting commodities like coal.
Besides, these wheels are a part of an order worth Rs 720 million, for the production of 10,000 forged wheels, placed by IR with KLW earlier this year.
