MoEFCC approves new alignment of Akola-Khandwa rail section in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra 

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has approved the new alignment of the Akola-Khandwa section for the Ratlam-Mhow-Khandwa-Akola gauge conversion project. It will pass through Akot, Hiwarkhed, Sonala, Jalgaon Jamod, and Usami.

The project involves conversion of the existing 472.64 km long meter gauge (MG) line into a broad gauge  railway line between Ratlam and Akola via Mhow and Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, respectively at an investment of Rs 62.03 billion.
