The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) is planning to revamp a 300 million litres per day (mld) water treatment plant (WTP) at Hills and a 14 mld WTP at Surapet in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
Along with that, a new 5 mld STP is also planned to restore and rejuvenate Villivakkam-Konnur Lake. Besides, CMWSSB has also asked IIT-Madras and the Union Government’s Department of Science to prepare a detailed project report for using 260 mld of recycled water for recharging lakes in and around the city.
