Quick drop solution for self-service baggage drop launched at Delhi airport

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has launched the self-service bag drop (SSBD) Quick Drop Solution at the Delhi airport. Reportedly, it is the first in the country, and second in the world to have implemented this technology.

There are currently 50 SSBD units across terminal 1 and terminal 3. With the conventional SSBD units, passenger can print boarding passes and baggage tags at the common use self-service kiosks, and then make use of the biometric cameras or scan boarding passes in order to drop the baggage. However, with the Quick Drop Solution, the boarding pass or biometric validation is not required, hence bringing down processing time to around 30 seconds. The facility can currently be availed by Air India, IndiGo, and Air India Express travellers.

The initiative targets a reduction in waiting time, and to also enhance passenger experience.
