Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) recommended grant of terms of reference (ToR) for two proposals submitted by Shree Digvijay Cement Company Limited (SDCCL) in its meeting held on April 25-26, 2024. These are:
The first proposal is for expansion of existing lighterage jetty by SDCCL. It is proposed to increase capacity from 0.56 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 5 mtpa. The scope of work includes strengthening and development of the existing berth for bulk cargo through barge lighterage operation, strengthening of road transport system and mechanised transport system for handling solid material from jetty to storage yard, strengthening of approach road from existing berth to storage area, deepening of the channel for ease of manoeuvring at lighterage jetty and storage area development for storage of bulk cargo. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.7 billion.
The second one includes revamping of old jetty and strengthening and development of the existing berth by SDCCL. The scope of work involves strengthening and development of the existing berth for bulk cargo through direct berthing facilities for handling a capacity of 4 mtpa, development of new piles, development of road transport system and mechanised transport system for handling solid material from jetty to storage yard, development of approach road from existing berth to storage area, deepening of the Channel for ease of manoeuvring at old jetty and storage area development for storage of bulk cargo. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 4.15 billion.
