About 75 per cent of civil work has been completed for the Mumbai Metro Phase III Line 6 Project [Swami Samarth Nagar-Vikhroli (EEH)] and is likely to be commissioned by 2026. The commissioning has been delayed owing to rolling stock and car shed. About 18 trainsets of six cars each are likely to be procured for the project. Around 22 hectares (ha) of land is required for the car shed, of which 15 ha has been acquired and MMRDA has sought for remaining 7 ha from the Government of Maharashtra (GoM). The project involves development of 14.47 km of metro rail, connecting Swami Samarth Nagar to Kanjurmarg via Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) in Maharashtra with an investment of Rs 67.72 billion. It consists of a total of 13 stations which are entirely elevated. It is being developed by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on cash-contract mode, with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) being the implementing agency.
