Centre grants approval for land acquisition under Bilasa Airport Expansion Project

The Union Government has granted working approval for land acquisition to the Government of Chhattisgarh for 286.65 acres under the Bilasa Airport expansion project. The State has to deposit Rs 704.92 million in exchange for the land. Besides, civil works related to night landing are likely to be completed by mid-March 2024. The project involves expansion works at the Bilasa Airport in Chattisgarh in two phases, where phase I involves the construction of a new terminal building and the upgradation of the airport to 3C instrument flight rules (IFR) on the existing runway dimension for facilitating flight operations during low visibility conditions including night operations. Phase IIA involves the upgradation of the airport to 4C IFR for facilitating operations of Airbus 320/321 and Boeing 737 type aircraft.
