Nine airports to come up in UP in the next two years

Reportedly, within the next two years, nine new airports are planned to be constructed in Uttar Pradesh. With this, the total number of airports in the state would reach 18. Over the past nine years, three additional airports were constructed. It was also noted that operations for ATR aircraft using visual flight rating (VFR) can commence at the Meerut airport once additional land spanning 115 acres is provided by the state government. The airport is an unlicenced one, identified during the UDAN scheme’s third round of bidding for the development and operation of RCS flights.
