The government has granted licences to Jio Satellite Communications and Bharti Enterprises-owned OneWeb to provide broadband services to end consumers via satellite. The Department of Telecommunications granted internet service provider (ISP) A (national area) and very small aperture terminal licences to OneWeb, while Jio Satellite was granted an ISP licence.
