NTPC has recently commissioned three coal-based units across its thermal power stations. These are the first 660 MW unit of the 1,320 MW Meja thermal power station in Uttar Pradesh, the first 800 MW unit of the 1,600 MW Lara super thermal power station in Chhattisgarh, and the third 800 MW unit of the 2,400 MW Kudgi super thermal power station in Karnataka. With this, the total capacity of NTPC stands at 53,651 MW. In a separate development, NTPC has invited bids for 2 GW of inter-state transmission system (ISTS) solar photovoltaic (PV) projects to be developed across the country. The projects will be installed on a build-own-operate basis and the bid submission date is April 24, 2018.
