Chhattisgarh launches pilot for powering PM Awas homes with solar power

Chhattisgarh has launched a first of its kind model in the country of installing rooftop solar plants on Prime Minister Janman Awas homes for tribal groups to provide housing along with assured solar electricity and near-zero power bills.

The pilot has been implemented in Gudurumuda village of Podi-Uproda block in Korba where rooftop solar systems have been installed on eight houses. Each house has been equipped with a 1 kW rooftop solar plant under the PM Surya Ghar programme with the project implemented through convergence of PM Janman Awas, PM Surya Ghar and District Mineral Foundation funds.
