NHAI surpasses construction target for 2024-25 with 5,614 km of new national highways

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has constructed 5,614 km of national highways in 2024-25, surpassing its initial construction target of 5,150 km by around 9 per cent.

The capital expenditures of NHAI hit a record-breaking Rs 2.50 trillion in 2024-25, as against a target expenditure of Rs 2.40 trillion. This expenditure includes budgetary spending and NHAI’s own resources and is about a 21 per cent increase over the Rs 2.07 trillion spent in 2023-24 and a roughly 45 per cent increase over the Rs 1.73 trillion spent in 2022-23.

Moreover, NHAI raised around Rs 287.24 billion via monetisation methods such as toll-operate-transfer (TOT), infrastructure investment trusts (InvIT), and securitisation. This includes the largest InvIT receipt worth Rs 177.38 billion.
