The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation has finalised land acquisition for the 138-km Pune Outer Ring Road project. Construction is set to begin by March 2025, with full operations expected by September 2027.
The project, spanning 83 villages, is divided into two phases. The eastern phase covers 74.08 km from Urse to Shivare, while the western phase consists of a 64.45 km circular road linking Shivare back to Urse. It aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Pune by offering direct highway access for heavy vehicles, bypassing central Pune.
The project requires 143 hectares for the eastern phase and 64 hectares for the western phase, involving areas like Maval, Khed, Purandar, Haveli, Mulshi, and Bhor. A loan from Housing And Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) has been secured, and contractors have been assigned.
