The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved investments for two hydroelectric projects in the Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh, with a combined outlay of Rs 36.89 billion.
The Heo hydro-electric project, with an installed capacity of 240 MW and an investment of Rs 19.39 billion is expected to generate 1,000 million units of energy annually. The Tato-I hydro-electric project, with a capacity of 186 MW, has an approved investment of Rs 17.50 billion and is expected to produce 802 million units of energy per year. Both projects will be implemented through a joint venture and are supported by central budgetary assistance for infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, and transmission lines. As part of the benefits, the state will receive 12 per cent of free power and an additional 1 per cent allocated to a local area development fund.
